COMMON QUESTIONS

Group Training

DO I HAVE TO COMMIT TO ALL THREE PHASES?

No. The starting point is phase one. Any decision to progress onto the second and third phase is completely up to you. It is important for you to feel comfortable with the training and to have confidence that it is going to get the results you're after for your dog. Over 85% of our phase one participants choose to go onto phase two and three because they see fantastic results in phase one.

DO YOU OFFER A DISCOUNT IF I DO ALL THREE PHASES?

There is currently no discount for doing all three phases. Subsequent phases can only be booked and paid for individually after you have commenced or completed phase one.

IS MY DOG A SMALL BREED OR MEDIUM/LARGE BREED?

Puppy Courses: All breeds aged between 8-14 weeks accepted.

Small Breed Courses: Generally speaking, breeds up to 13kg (average normal weight) and/or are under a height of 38cms (15 inches) are accepted onto the small breed course. This includes Dachshunds, Jack Russels, Cavoodles, Toy Poodles, Pomeranians, Chihuahuas etc. *An exception may be made for Standard Poodles/Groodles etc pending  a mandatory behavioural assessment for suitability in this category. This is due to the sensitive temperament of some of these breeds and that they may be better suited to a small breed course.

Medium/Large Breed Courses: Generally speaking, breeds above13.5kg (average normal weight) or taller than 40cm (15 inches) are accepted onto the M/L courses. This includes Beagles, staffys, labradors, Golden Retreivers etc.

DO SMALL BREED COURSES HAVE BIGGER DOGS?

All the small breed courses involve at least one medium/large breed dog. These dogs are very carefully selected as calm, well trained dogs to help smaller dogs have positive experiences with a larger dog during their training. It is normal for some smaller dogs to have an adverse reaction when first meeting the larger dogs but always end positively. James has a 100% success rate in the small breed course with getting all dogs to co-exist safely with the bigger dogs so be rest assured your dog will be safe!

ARE THERE PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE?

Payment plans are only offered for Phase 3 which gives clients the option to pay off the course in weekly payments after making a deposit of $200. You are able to start the course before payment plan is completed as long as the deposit has paid and direct debit plan has started.
*Note: Payments plans are not available for private one on one training.

MY DOG IS ANTI-SOCIAL AND/OR REACTIVE. HOW DO I KNOW THEY WILL BE SUITED TO THIS COURSE?

All social interactions are carefully supervised and facilitated by James Fruze. James is proud to have a 100% safety record during his group classes. All dogs are kept safe.

I HAVE A FEARFUL, TIMID OR ANXIOUS DOG. HOW WILL THEY GO IN THESE COURSES?

This course will start to have a significant impact on your dog's confidence. A fearful dog will never overcome their fears if we allow them to keep avoiding scary situations. This course provides dogs that are generally fearful an opportunity to overcome their fears in a safe and controlled environment at a pace that is comfortable for them whilst still encouraging them to build their confidence. If your dog has a habit of 'nipping' or 'snapping' at dogs or people don't let this stop you from enrolling either. This is just their way of telling us that they do not like what is happening. As you will learn on the course there are multiple ways to avoid that behaviour by providing the right leadership, so your dog trusts you in any situation. This course has worked wonders for fearful dogs, and they are now living more happy, comfortable lives.

MY DOG IS QUITE NAUGHTY. IS IT POSSIBLE FOR A DOG TO BE TOO NAUGHTY FOR THESE COURSES?

No, not at all. These courses are specifically designed to accommodate dogs with a variety of behavioural problems. Never be embarrassed and think that your dog will just make you look bad. No dog that comes on the course is perfect and that’s why they are there, to learn! Everybody is expected to support one another as we all have the same goal which is to teach our dog's how to improve and learn.

CAN I BRING GUESTS WITH ME TO CLASSES?

Yes you can. Each participant can bring one adult and up to two children aged 8 years or over.

ARE THERE ANY AGE LIMITS FOR CLASSES?

Age limits are as follows:

Puppy School: 8-14 weeks

All Other Courses: 15 weeks - 10+ Years Old

WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE A CLASS?

If you cannot make all scheduled classes in a course do not enrol. No refunds are given for missed classes.

DOES MY DOG HAVE TO BE UP TO DATE WITH VACCINATIONS?

Yes. It is very important that we provide a safe environment for all the other dogs so up-to-date vaccinations are a must. Proof of vaccinations will be required before the first dog class (You will be sent a link to upload a photo of your dog's vaccinations after the first dog included class of phase one).

*Please Note: Anti-Body Titer Tests Are Accepted.

DO YOU ACCEPT RESCUE DOGS?

Absolutely. Despite what a dog’s past is, it’s more often than not the humans that hold a dog back from making progress. If a dog has had a rough start to life and developed behavioural problems because of that, this course will give both the owner and the dog the tools and knowledge they need to overcome the past of the dog.
